Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

AEON Staffing Group is a workforce solutions provider seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to support one of their clients. This full-time, contract role involves delivering engineering designs, managing CAD assemblies, and coordinating with clients and external partners.

Responsibilities:

• Work onsite with the end-client to deliver engineering designs that meet client and project team objectives
• Architect, design, and integrate mechanical systems
• Solve complex engineering challenges and design solutions that incorporate custom parts
• Perform studies using mechanical engineering principles
• Manage 3D CAD assemblies
• Generate and maintain a bill of materials for projects
• Create drawings using ASME Y14.5 GD&T standards
• Quickly and effectively prototype design concepts
• Identify manufacturing methods for prototyping and production
• Design components appropriately for those manufacturing methods
• Work closely and communicate with clients and project management to keep stakeholders apprised of project status, issues, design decisions, and risks
• Coordinate with external partners in areas like industrial design and contract manufacturing

Requirements:

• Bachelor or Master degree in Mechanical Engineering
• Subject matter expertise; ideally 20+ years of relevant engineering experience
• Extensive actuator engineering experience including defining requirements, working with vendors, developing custom solutions, and small component design
• Electronics packaging: Structural FEA, thermal design, packaging in tight space
• Extensive experience with electronics packaging, including structural FEA and thermal design
• Experience with SolidWorks (highly preferred) or equivalent CAD software
• Thorough understanding of GD&T (ASME Y14.5) and how it is applied to design and manufacturing
• Knowledge of manufacturing processes and mechanical design considerations – injection molding, sheet metal, machining, rapid prototyping, etc
• Knowledge of assembly and alignment methods
• Ability to identify and root-cause system-level defects
• Experience in design and integration of complex systems
• Organization and analytical skills
• Ability to communicate clearly and write detailed reports
