The Financial Data Analyst, Business Intelligence will work as part of the Strategic Insights team to turn data into actionable information for Financial stakeholders. As part of the Strategic Insights team, you will support the Finance team and develop business intelligence capabilities, advanced analytics, dashboards, and reports in support of the organization’s financial goals and objectives. This position provides support in the development, analysis, and interpretation of financial data sources to support end user needs and enable actionable decision making. You should possess a strong background in financial data and analytics with the ability to solve problems, provide critical thinking, and communicate complex technical ideas in a clear, actionable way. As a Financial Data Analyst, you will have responsibility for the design, development, and deployment of analytic solutions including requirements gathering, logical and physical data design, data modeling, UI/UX design, ETL functions, SQL development, testing, solution deployment, report, dashboard, advanced analytics, and visualization creation, and administration and maintenance of analytic tools. You will work with a team of developers who are also supporting the end-to-end analytics lifecycle as well as financial stakeholders who will help drive requirements and objectives. These analytic solutions will all be in support of the needs of the Guthrie Clinic and its stakeholders
- 3–6 years of experience in BI, analytics, or financial reporting, preferably in healthcare.
- Strong understanding of healthcare financial concepts (budgeting, cost accounting, reimbursement, service lines).
- Hands-on experience with BI and data engineering tools (Microsoft Fabric, Power BI, Tableau, etc.).
- Experience working with ERP and financial systems (e.g., Oracle, Workday, Lawson, SAP).
- Understanding of SQL, relational databases, and data modeling concepts.
- Basic understanding of various data repository and storage designs, including data warehouse, data lake, and data lakehouse.
- Healthcare system or integrated delivery network (IDN) experience
- Experience supporting Decision Support, FP&A, Cost Accounting and General Ledger Financial Reporting teams.
- Familiarity with EHR financial integrations (e.g., Epic Clarity/Caboodle).
- Experience with self-service BI enablement and financial data governance frameworks.
- Experience with statistical analysis (Python, R, or other statistical analysis software).
- Experience with Oracle Transactional Business Intelligence (OTBI), Oracle Analytics Publisher, Financial Reporting Center, FDI, SmartView, and/or CloudMiner a plus.
- Experience leveraging artificial intelligence and automation tools to enhance productivity, analysis, or decision‑making in day‑to‑day work is preferred.

- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Information Systems, Analytics, or related field, Master’s degree preferred.
Preferred certifications include Microsoft Certified: Power BI Data Analyst, Fabrics Analytics Engineer, and/or Fabrics Data Engineer.
- Financial Reporting & Analytics
- Responsible for the design, development, and deployment of enterprise financial dashboards and reports (e.g., income statement, balance sheet, cash flow, service line performance).
- Support monthly close, budget, forecast, and variance analysis through automated BI solutions.
- Translate Finance requirements into clear data models, metrics, and visualizations.
- Ensure consistent financial definitions across departments and reports.
- Creates and maintains requirements, plans, training materials, and other related documentation for each solution as necessary.
- Must have strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
- Possess high attention to detail to ensure quality assurance and control of analytic products (data and reporting accuracy, integrity, and security).
- Data & BI Development
- Design and maintain semantic models, data marts, and datasets supporting financial analytics.
- Experience with data engineering and visualizations tools, specifically Microsoft Fabric and Power BI.
- Familiar with data architecture designs, including data warehouse, data lake, and data lakehouse, and the ability to access data for ETL processes to support the development of advanced analytics processes, BI platforms, reports, and dashboards.
- Integrate data from ERP, EHR, cost accounting, payroll, and ancillary systems.
- Governance, Controls & Data Integrity
- Apply data governance, security, and access controls aligned with IT and Finance standards.
- Ensure reporting complies with SOX controls, audit requirements, and internal financial controls.
- Create and maintain documentation and training materials including report logic, data sources, assumptions, and calculation methodologies.
- Support Finance leadership during audits, regulatory reviews, and leadership inquiries.
- Collaboration and Communication
- Serve as a primary BI liaison for Finance, translating business needs into technical solutions.
- Participate in cross-functional workgroups with Finance, IT, Clinical, and Operational leaders to promote data literacy and strategic alignment.
- Provide training and support to Finance users on BI tools and self-service reporting.
- Proactively identify opportunities to standardize, automate, and improve reporting processes.
