The Area Managing Director & General Manager will play an essential role in the leadership of their region of properties providing guidance, oversight, understanding and ensuring alignment with each property owner and the Home Office while solely operating and leading their home property. The Area Managing Director & General Manager will lead the strategic positioning, operational excellence, and long-term value creation of both their home property and regional portfolio, serving as the CEO of their home property responsible for financial performance, guest experience, team culture, and brand integrity. In addition, the role will work closely with ownership and Auberge Collection leaders and their teams to ensure the highest level of collaboration, operational efficiency, and strategic alignment—with a deep focus on quality and service excellence as guiding principles.
The role also involves serving as the face of the property within the local community, fostering stakeholder relationships, and championing their property as a cultural and social anchor among residents and members. Home Hotel Job Functions:
Effectively managing the owner relationships on behalf of Auberge, to ensure the owners maintain trust and confidence in our stewardship of their asset.
Oversee the development of the strategy and business plan to deliver our objective of being the best-loved operator of one of a kind luxury hospitality and experiences.
Responsible for initiating, facilitating, and guiding well-designed and creatively curated guest experiences unique to the property through the food & beverage outlets, other amenities, product selection, partner alignment, and space activation.
Develop the recruitment and employment brand strategy to become the employer of choice in the local market
Build a rich culture of trust, pride and joy that will result in a high employee advocacy and team member engagement.
Oversee the creation and successful implementation of the guest experience - Pre-Arrival, Arrival, During The Stay, Departure and Post-Departure to ensure that our guests report the highest levels of personal and customized services.
Ensure that all financial targets are met as well as accurate monthly forecasting
Spearhead the commercial strategy to drive and increase revenue as well as be the sales champion and visible with most influential travel advisors, clients and media
Drive guest engagement and satisfaction with a focus on a Net Promoter Score of greater than 80%
Partner with your Executive leadership team to ensure each department is functioning with the highest standards of excellence
Champion new initiatives and take calculated risks to improve property performance
Actively engage with the local community, businesses, and high society to embed the property and region as a cultural and social landmark.
Area Oversight & Responsibilities:
Coaching, oversight and support of the assigned GMs including reporting and communications via the Auberge home office team
Providing strategic input to optimize property performance including input on budget, goal setting, performance outcomes and budget in alignment with the Performance Leadership Team (PLT) and home office operations leadership
Support the selection, development and performance management of the GM within the assigned region
Support the growth, and talent development of the executive teams within the assigned region providing a platform for feedback and career development as well as assisting with the recruitment of key leaders within the region
Lead the development and execution of strategies across assigned properties, ensuring alignment with Auberge's mission to be the most inspiring operator of one-of-a-kind luxury hospitality experiences.
Oversee financial performance, including budgeting, forecasting, and profitability targets, ensuring each property delivers exceptional value to owners and stakeholders.
Collaborate with the Home Office to ensure alignment, compliance and consistent communication
Maintain strong relationships with hotel owners, investors, and partners, ensuring alignment with Auberge's strategic goals and maintaining trust in the stewardship of their assets
Minimum of 10+ years experience as a General Manager in a luxury hotel setting; prior experience as an Area/Regional executive is strongly preferred if externally placed.
Proven record of leading luxury hotels, including staffing, budgeting, operational planning, and community engagement.
Ability to maintain and strengthen relationships with ownership, homeowners, residents, members, and other key stakeholders.
Experience collaborating with development teams, ownership groups, architects, designers, and residential sales teams throughout pre-opening and stabilization phases.
Experience cultivating relationships with ultra-high-net-worth individuals and discerning global clientele
Proven ability to lead luxury membership ecosystems and private club cultures
Sophisticated understanding of member engagement, social programming, and residential owner expectations
Demonstrates a savvy approach to business operations, with innovative thinking to address unique challenges
Previous experience managing independently branded luxury hotels in addition to traditional hospitality brands, including properties with integrated residential components.
Direct experience managing branded residences or serviced condominiums, with an understanding of HOA dynamics and owner expectations when applicable
Strong background in Food & Beverage (F&B) or Sales & Marketing, preferably in Catering and Events.
Exhibits executive thinking and decision-making capabilities with a focus on culture building and team leadership.
Skilled in building and nurturing relationships with all stakeholders, including owners, homeowners, residents, members, guests, team members, and the local community.
Demonstrates robust experience in operations, particularly in F&B and club membership management.
Agile and solution-oriented, with strong communication skills and the ability to navigate dynamic environments.
