The Chief is responsible for leading and managing the child protection section and establishing the plans of action to ensure the achievement of concrete and sustainable programme/project results, according to plans, allocation, results based-management approaches and methodology (RBM), and UNICEF’s Strategic Plans, standards of performance and accountability framework.

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have… 

• Minimum requirements

• • 1. 1. Education: Master or equivalent (Advanced University Degree) in Psychology, Sociology, International Law, Social Science, International Development, Human Rights, or other related fields.
       2. Work Experience: At least 10 years of relevant work experience in child protection, programme management, strategic planning, monitoring and evaluation, policy advocacy, partnership development, humanitarian coordination, emergency preparedness, capacity building, knowledge management, or other related fields.
       3. Skills: Child Protection, Monitoring and Evaluation, International Development, International Law, Psychology, Sociology.
       4. Language Requirements: Proficiency in English is required.

• Desirables
  
  1. 1. Language: Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish) or a local language.
     2. The following areas and experience are considered assets: developing country experience, multilateral agency experience, humanitarian context experience, development context experience, UN system experience, local language proficiency.
     3. Relevant experience at country level, particularly in development, fragile settings and humanitarian contexts.

This position is based in Kyiv and the incumbent will be expected be work on-site. However, depending on the security conditions and advisory, s/he will be required to relocate within Ukraine.
