Patent Attorney (Mechanical/Aerospace Engineering)

Diamond Personnel is representing a global law firm seeking a junior to mid-level Patent Prosecution Attorney with a background in mechanical or aerospace engineering. The role involves preparing and prosecuting patent applications, analyzing invention disclosures, and advising clients on patent strategy.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare, draft, and prosecute U.S. and international patent applications
• Analyze invention disclosures and collaborate closely with inventors, engineers, and clients to develop comprehensive patent strategies
• Draft responses to Office Actions issued by the USPTO and foreign patent offices
• Conduct patentability, freedom-to-operate, and landscape analyses
• Manage and maintain domestic and international patent portfolios for clients ranging from startups to established companies
• Advise clients on patent strategy, portfolio development, and intellectual property protection matters
• Support due diligence activities, including patent portfolio reviews and analyses

Requirements:

• 1-5 years of patent prosecution experience
• Have a degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, electrical engineering, or computer science
• Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school
• USPTO registration is required
• Prior experience as a patent examiner is a plus
• Industry experience is a plus
• Prior experience working with Rocket Engines is a plus
