Summary Under general supervision, the Heavy-duty Truck Technician inspects, diagnoses, and repairs moderately complex issues associated with diesel-powered vehicles and machines, like trucks, forklifts and construction equipment.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities • Performs preventative maintenance services in conformance to manufacturer specifications • Diagnoses and repairs heavy-duty vehicle and equipment systems • Orders parts as needed • Responds to road calls • Conducts road and static testing to verify repairs • Takes vehicles to and from outside vendors for repairs and services • Maintains a clean and orderly Fleet Shop • Follows City policies, procedures, and safety guidelines • Performs other duties as assigned Minimum Qualifications • High school diploma or equivalent • Four (4) years experience as a Diesel Engine Technician or the equivalent combination of education and experience • Furnishes own hand tools Certificates, Licenses, Registrations • Valid Class C Driver’s license • EPA Section 609 Certification within 30 days of employment • ASE Certifications: T4, T5& T6 (may be substituted with an additional 4 years of heavy duty technician experience)
