EPAM Systems is seeking a Lead BI Business Analyst to join their team of innovators driving data-driven digital transformations. In this role, you will leverage your expertise in Business Intelligence and Business Analysis to lead international projects across various business domains, acting as a key liaison between stakeholders and engineering teams.
Responsibilities:
- Requirements Elicitation & Stakeholder Leadership: Lead discovery meetings, workshops, and elicitation sessions with international clients. Translate high-level business problems into precise, actionable technical requirements and prioritize backlog items (epics, features, user stories)
- Analytical Solution Architecture: Collaborate with development teams to design, model, and maintain advanced interactive dashboards, reports, and data visualizations in Power BI or Tableau following industry best practices
- Data Analysis & Profiling: Actively perform hands-on data discovery, data assessment, and data profiling using advanced SQL queries to ensure source data quality and consistency
- Source-to-Target Mapping (STTM): Prepare detailed source-to-target mapping, logical/physical data models (Star and Snowflake schemas), data flow diagrams, and comprehensive business requirements documentation
- Data Migration & Modernization: Partner with engineering teams on end-to-end data migration and modernization projects, advising on ETL/ELT pipeline design, data warehouse (DWH) concepts, staging areas, and cleansing layers
- Agile Project Delivery: Drive and participate in key Agile ceremonies (Daily Stand-ups, Sprint Planning, Backlog Refinement, Sprint Reviews, and Retrospectives). If needed, act as the Data Product Owner on client-facing analytical projects
- Quality Assurance & UAT: Define testing strategies for data products. Lead User Acceptance Testing (UAT) sessions with customer stakeholders to ensure the accuracy, reliability, and business alignment of delivered dashboards and reports
- Mentorship & BI Practice Growth: Foster a collaborative team environment, mentoring junior analysts and developers, and contributing to the maturity of our internal Business Intelligence practices
Requirements:
- 5+ years of experience in data-related domains (e.g., BI, DWH, Data Migration, Data Governance, or Analytics projects)
- 3+ years of expertise specifically gathering, documenting, presenting, estimating, and prioritizing requirements for complex BI, DWH, and analytical solutions
- Outstanding proficiency in SQL for analyzing, querying, and profiling massive, complex datasets
- Strong fundamental understanding of DWH architectures, dimensional modeling (Star Schema, Snowflake Schema), and data quality assessment
- Proven hands-on experience with Power BI, Tableau, or similar visual analytics platforms for data modeling, transformation (such as Power Query/DAX), and report design
- Strong fluency in end-to-end project delivery using both Agile (Scrum/Kanban) and Waterfall frameworks
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with the ability to confidently lead presentations and deliver technical content to non-technical business partners
- Fluent English proficiency (B2+/C1 level or higher)
- Solid knowledge of Python (Pandas, NumPy) for advanced data manipulation or analytical prototyping
- Familiarity with modern cloud platforms and services, particularly AWS (S3, Glue, Athena, Lambda) or equivalent architectures in Azure, GCP, or Snowflake
- Experience defining requirements for AI/ML-focused features (e.g., predictive analytics, forecasting) or integrating Generative AI features into BI reporting environments
- Familiarity with data governance frameworks, master data management, and data security policies
- Deep domain experience in banking/finance, oil & gas, or e-commerce/retail ecosystems
