Sentronics Metrology GmbH, recently acquired by Nova, is a leading company in high-precision measurement solutions for semiconductor manufacturing. Based in Mannheim, Sentronics brings over 25 years of experience in developing advanced metrology systems.

The integration of Sentronics into Nova is already well underway. Together, Nova’s global presence and Sentronics’ technology and expertise create a strong platform for growth and innovation.

As a Physicist / Applications Engineer at Sentronics Metrology (a Nova company), you will play a key role in implementing and optimizing advanced optical metrology systems for international semiconductor customers.

You will work closely with cross-functional teams and customers worldwide, perform feasibility studies, create measurement programs, and support system acceptance testing. Your expertise will ensure that Nova’s solutions deliver real value and meet the highest standards of performance and precision.

You will also conduct customer-specific training and present application-focused content to support successful system use.

Role Responsibilities

• Plan and control the use of optical sensors and software to accurately measure parameters in semiconductor manufacturing.
• Conduct feasibility studies for customers in close collaboration with Nova’s global teams.
• Set up measurement programs for optical metrology systems and prepare them for delivery.
• Perform system acceptance tests at customer sites and ensure proper functionality.
• Support the service team and provide training for customers, both on-site and remotely.

Requirements

• Degree in Physics or a related field, with a completed PhD.
• Initial postdoctoral or industry experience after your PhD.
• Experience in metrology, optics, semiconductors, or sensor technology is a plus.
• Willingness to travel internationally (Asia, US, EU) about 25%, including occasional longer assignments abroad.
• Strong communication and presentation skills with a professional and confident presence.
• Excellent skills in Excel and PowerPoint; experience with MATLAB, Octave, Python, or similar programming tools is preferred.
• Knowledge of an Asian language (Chinese, Japanese, or Korean) is an advantage, but not required.
• Fluent English, spoken and written.
