They are seeking a Principal Engineer to shape the future of software reliability by building and scaling an enterprise Site Reliability Engineering practice, focusing on architecture, automation, and cloud-native software engineering.
Responsibilities:
- Build and evolve the enterprise Site Reliability Engineering practice, establishing the technical vision, standards, and roadmap for reliability engineering across software development teams
- Define and implement engineering strategies for SLIs, SLOs, SLAs, error budgets, observability, and chaos engineering to improve platform resilience and developer effectiveness
- Partner with software architects, engineering leaders, and product teams to embed reliability, scalability, and performance into the software development lifecycle
- Design reusable engineering frameworks, automation, and platform capabilities that eliminate operational toil and enable highly available, cloud-native applications
- Provide technical leadership for distributed systems, APIs, event-driven architectures, and microservices, influencing architectural decisions across the organization
- Lead the evaluation and adoption of modern SRE tools, cloud technologies, and engineering practices while remaining focused on scalable, technology-agnostic solutions
- Mentor and develop engineers and technical leaders, fostering a culture of engineering excellence, continuous learning, and ownership
- Collaborate with DevOps, Platform Engineering, Security, and Quality teams to advance software engineering practices that improve reliability by design rather than through reactive support
Requirements:
- 10+ years of enterprise software engineering experience with expertise in languages such as Java, Python, Go, or similar, along with experience designing scalable distributed systems
- 5+ years implementing and advancing Site Reliability Engineering practices, including SLI/SLO strategy, observability, automation, and reliability engineering at scale
- Deep expertise with public cloud platforms, cloud-native architectures, APIs, microservices, CI/CD, and modern engineering practices, with experience driving technical strategy across organizations
- Experience building engineering platforms, automation frameworks, or developer tooling that improves software reliability and reduces operational complexity
- Proven ability to influence cross-functional engineering teams, coach technical talent, and lead organizational transformation through modern software engineering practices
- Passion for solving complex technical challenges through architecture, automation, and software engineering, with a collaborative leadership style focused on innovation and continuous improvement
