The Walt Disney Company is a global leader in media and entertainment, seeking a Transmission Engineer I to join their Streaming Transmission team. This role involves supporting critical streaming broadcast systems and ensuring the successful management and delivery of live broadcasts across various platforms.
Responsibilities:
- Route and monitor multiple audio and video feeds across a variety of transmission and distribution paths
- Quickly identify, troubleshoot, and resolve issues in a fast-paced live production environment
- Remotely configure and support hardware systems used for live event acquisition, distribution, and linear operations
- Continuously build knowledge of emerging technologies, tools, and workflows to support evolving operational needs
- Adhere to company and departmental Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and all applicable policies and guidelines
- Contribute to troubleshooting efforts and problem-solving initiatives that support operational performance and reliability
- Accurately interpret routine operational information and apply that knowledge to day-to-day responsibilities
- Support operations in a 24/7 Technical Operations Center (TOC) environment, maintaining focus and attention to detail in a high-profile setting
- Provide professional, timely, and customer-focused technical support to internal teams and external partners as needed
Requirements:
- Demonstrates an understanding of signal flows, signal measurements, and operational procedures
- Possesses a basic understanding of satellite, fiber, and IP-based transport technologies, including HLS, RTMP, SRT, unicast, and multicast
- Monitors and performs quality control on live event and linear acquisition signals across multiple transport formats (Linear, IP, Fiber, etc.), ensuring signals meet established quality standards and making adjustments to video, audio, and closed captioning as needed
- Performs quality control and corrective actions to maintain and enhance the quality of our products and services
- Collaborates with internal teams and external partners to support the acquisition, monitoring, and distribution of live feeds
- Troubleshoots and resolves day-to-day operational issues to ensure reliable signal delivery and service continuity
- Follows and executes established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and workflows for assigned transmission and distribution responsibilities
- Serves as a technical point of contact for internal departments and external partners, helping to support operational needs and communication
- Maintains a basic understanding of streaming technologies and workflows that support products such as ESPN+, Disney+, and Hulu Live

- Effective communicator with the ability to collaborate in a 24/7 technical operations environment and contribute as a developing technical professional
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Prior Broadcasting experience, military experience within related fields, or similar transferrable experience
