RTX, the world's largest aerospace and defense company, is seeking a Senior Principal Systems Engineer to work on-site in Fulton, MD. The role involves leading technical projects, engaging in innovative advancements, and performing full life cycle systems engineering tasks.
Responsibilities:
- Serve as a technical lead and systems engineer on challenging software development projects such as the Common Aviation Command and Control System (CAC2S) or the Battlespace Command and Control Center (BC3)
- Be engaged with exciting and innovative advancements in Multi-Sensor and Information Fusion, Networked Situational Awareness, and Visualization technologies
- Perform full life cycle systems engineering tasks including system requirements analysis, definition, architecture design, trade studies, integration, verification and validation (IV&V)
- Serve as Technical Leader of medium to large engineering development teams
- Act as systems engineering discipline subject matter expert for department, mentoring other engineers and solving critical technical problems with innovative solutions
- Travel to customer sites as needed
Requirements:
- Experience with design and requirements derivation for software; some technical leadership or mentoring experience
- Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 10 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 7 years of experience
- The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance
- Recognized subject matter expertise in deployed Command and Control (C2) systems
- Experience architecting complex software solutions for US and Allied military
- Experience with any of the following systems: Link 16 Tactical Data Link (J series messages), VMF (K series messages), Surveillance/Radars, Air Traffic Control, Mission Planning, Missile Systems or Combat/Fire Control systems
- Understand and apply commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within the systems engineering field (ISO/IEC/IEEE 15288, Mil-Std-499B)
- Experience with systems engineering tools such as DOORS, Sparx Systems Enterprise Architect, and Cameo
- Experience with configuration and test of cloud-based software deployments
- Experience with Earned Value Management System (EVMS) techniques and applying them as a Cost Account Manager (CAM)
- Active and transferable Secret U.S. government issued security clearance
