Olivine, Inc. is a small and growing company, leading the way to provide low-cost grid and market-integrated distributed energy resources of all types for a sustainable clean energy economy. They are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Manager to oversee Energy Market Operations and dispatch functions within their Virtual Power Plant business, focusing on optimizing energy portfolios and managing risks.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of Energy Market Operations
- Develop and implement effective strategies for managing profits at risk for a portfolio of behind the meter resources
- Analyze market trends and identify opportunities to optimize energy portfolios and reduce risks
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders
- Provide guidance and support to team members to transfer knowledge, develop expertise and to ensure operational excellence is achieved for all trading and market related activities
- Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment of strategies and objectives; including teams encompassing Marketing, Legal, Sales, and Accounting
- Collaborate with senior management to develop and implement overall business strategies and plans
- Provide regular reporting to senior management on key performance indicators, risks, and opportunities. Provide Profit/Loss explanation related to portfolio and assist in variance explanation and corrective action
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field such as math, statistics, engineering, quantitative finance, or business
- 10+ years of experience in energy operations, commodity risk management, portfolio optimization, and hedging specific to the energy sector
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to collect, analyze, and interpret complex market data
- Analytical skills required for retail pricing, risk assessment, and transaction structuring
- Strong working knowledge of Power ISO markets such as CAISO, ERCOT, PJM, NYISO, etc
- Understanding of various settlement processes including physical, financial, and environmental
- High level of proficiency in Excel and working knowledge of Python and SQL
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders at all levels of the organization
- Proven leadership experience, with the ability to motivate and inspire teams
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment juggling multiple priorities simultaneously
- Knowledge of energy trading, risk management, and hedging strategies
