Educational Data Analyst

Newsela is a leading education technology company dedicated to meaningful classroom learning for every student. They are seeking a skilled Educational Data Analyst to engage with school district administrators, design and maintain data dashboards, and support data solutions.

Responsibilities:

• Engage with school district leaders and educators to understand their data analytics needs and to educate diverse stakeholders on how to effectively use the dashboards to interpret data
• Design and develop customized metrics and dashboards
• Utilize SQL for database management and queries, ensuring accurate and accessible data solutions
• Provide ongoing support and maintenance for the data dashboards by troubleshooting, diagnosing, and resolving platform and data quality issues to ensure reliable reporting and effective data modeling
• Collaborate with data scientists, engineers, and Product to enhance the data platform

Requirements:

• Experience in working with educational data and familiarity with K-12 schools
• Experience working with data visualization tools and dashboard design
• Ability to translate complex data into digestible and actionable information
• Advanced SQL skills
• Experience working independently on projects
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Passion for education and improving educational outcomes
• +4 years of experience as a data analyst, data engineer, or similar role
• Experience with Python for data cleaning, analysis, and automation
• Experience working with a K12 Student Information System such as Infinite Campus, PowerSchool, Skyward, or Aeries
