Environmental Services Project Manager Job Details | NextEra Energy

NextEra Energy Resources is one of America’s largest wholesale electricity generators, harnessing diverse energy sources to power progress. The Environmental Services Project Manager will support new development opportunities by leading environmental permitting strategies and collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to obtain necessary licenses and approvals.

Responsibilities:

• Leads environmental programs that provide specialized expertise to ensure cost effective environmental solutions
• Maximizes operational flexibility and environmental benefits for costs incurred
• Contributes to improved system reliability and customer satisfaction
• Translates regulations and permits into actionable tasks
• Provides guidance on alternatives to minimize environmental impacts
• Identifies, tracks, and analyzes environmental performance metrics
• Reviews, monitors, and comments on emerging environmental legislation and regulations
• Assists with development of strategy and communicate environmental requirements to management
• Performs other job-related duties as assigned

Requirements:

• Bachelor's Degree
• Experience: 6+ years
• Applicant must have relevant project management experience, strong leadership skills and behaviors, and demonstrated abilities to excel in multi-disciplinary settings by leading the execution of environmental permitting strategies and outcomes
• Experience managing or supporting projects with the following agencies and permitting is required: Bureau of Land Management (BLM), National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), US Army Corps of Engineers and Clean Water Act, and Endangered Species Act (ESA)
• The successful candidate must maintain current knowledge of pertinent national and state-level environmental policies and regulations, can effectively interface with internal stakeholders and external regulators, subject matter experts, and be able to assist in resolving complex environmental matters
• They will help identify compliance with federal, state, and local environmental regulations, as well as company policies
• Applicant must have the ability to support multiple projects with multi-faceted environmental and regulatory issues, be able to distill key information from consultant-prepared reports and studies quickly and accurately, work as part of a collaborative team, and bring a positive attitude
• Experience managing or supporting projects with the following is preferred: National Historic Preservation Act, Arizona Corporation Commission (ACC) Certificate of Environmental Compliance (CEC), Arizona State Lands Department (ASLD), New Mexico Public Regulation Commission (PRC), and New Mexico State Lands Office (SLO)
