The Staff Software Engineer - Full Stack will serve as a technical leader and hands-on contributor, leading technical initiatives and delivering high-quality software while collaborating with various stakeholders to develop scalable solutions.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the technical design and implementation of complex full stack applications
- Plan and execute technical roadmaps with minimal guidance
- Collaborate closely with product managers, designers, engineers, and client stakeholders throughout the software development lifecycle
- Translate ambiguous business requirements into scalable technical solutions
- Improve system reliability, maintainability, and performance through refactoring, documentation, automated testing, and observability
- Build secure, accessible, and resilient applications using modern engineering best practices
- Present technical concepts, implementation approaches, and architectural tradeoffs to both technical and non-technical audiences
- Support proposal development, technical demonstrations, and client-facing discussions when needed
- Participate in technical interviews and mentor engineers through code reviews and technical guidance
- Periodically travel to support client meetings, workshops, or team collaboration
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree and 9+ years of professional software engineering experience (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
- Expert-level experience developing modern web applications using React and Ruby on Rails
- Experience designing and consuming RESTful APIs and integrating distributed services
- Experience with cloud-native application development, preferably in AWS
- Experience using Datadog or other monitoring tools for monitoring, observability, troubleshooting, and performance analysis
- Strong understanding of software architecture, testing strategies, CI/CD, and modern engineering practices
- Demonstrated ability to leverage AI-assisted development tools to improve engineering productivity, code quality, testing, and problem solving while maintaining sound engineering judgment
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work directly with technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Must be able to successfully obtain and maintain a Tier 4 Public Trust or higher security clearance
- Experience building mobile applications using React Native and TypeScript
- Experience working on federal government software modernization programs
- Experience with accessibility standards (Section 508/WCAG)
- Experience working within Agile software delivery teams
- Experience with containerized applications and Kubernetes
- Experience supporting FedRAMP, FISMA, or other government compliance environments
