Environmental Engineering Technician II

City of Richland is dedicated to maintaining essential services and enhancing the community. The Environmental Engineering Technician II supports the city’s environmental compliance programs by conducting inspections and monitoring activities related to wastewater and stormwater systems.

Responsibilities:

• Conducting inspections, sampling, permitting, and monitoring activities related to wastewater pretreatment and stormwater systems
• Working with industrial users
• Ensuring compliance with State and Federal regulations
• Providing technical guidance
• Supporting a variety of environmental protection initiatives

Requirements:

• Associate of Applied Science degree in wastewater treatment, biology, environmental science, chemistry, or a related field
• One (1) year of experience in stormwater treatment, wastewater treatment, wastewater collection systems, or pretreatment programs
• Any equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities will be considered
• Valid driver's license
• Obtain Flagger Certification within six (6) months of hire and maintain for duration of employment
• Experience with federal and WA state environmental compliance
• Current Flagger Certification
