Software Engineer Apprentice — Generative AI, Image & Video

LUNARTECH is developing an open-source platform for AI-powered image and video generation. The Software Engineer Apprentice will participate in a selective 9-month program, contributing across frontend, backend, infrastructure, and AI application engineering, including model integrations, generation workflows, APIs, processing pipelines, and open-source development.

Responsibilities:

• Building image and video generation interfaces
• Developing backend APIs and services
• Designing generation workflows
• Integrating generative AI models
• Building asynchronous processing pipelines
• Developing generation queues and worker systems
• Implementing project and asset management
• Building real-time progress tracking
• Handling large image and video assets
• Designing model abstraction layers
• Developing authentication and account systems
• Building reusable frontend components
• Working with cloud and GPU infrastructure
• Improving reliability and performance
• Debugging production systems
• Writing tests
• Contributing to technical architecture
• Writing developer and open-source documentation

Requirements:

• Strong early-career engineers who already have meaningful technical experience
• Capable of contributing to sophisticated software systems from the beginning
• Understand software development fundamentals
• Comfortable working independently
• Hands-on experience building technical projects
• Demonstrated engineering ability and the capacity to work effectively on a technically demanding product

• Relevant technologies may include: Frontend (React, Next.js, TypeScript, JavaScript), Backend (Python, FastAPI, Node.js, PostgreSQL, Redis, REST APIs, WebSockets), Engineering & Infrastructure (Git, GitHub, Docker, Linux, Cloud environments, CI/CD, APIs, Testing, Debugging)
• Prior experience with image, video, or generative AI systems is strongly preferred
• Relevant experience may include: Stable Diffusion, SDXL, FLUX, Diffusers, ComfyUI, Hugging Face, ControlNet, LoRA, IP-Adapter, Inpainting / outpainting, Image conditioning, Video generation models, Image-to-video systems, Multimodal applications, GPU inference, Generative media APIs
