Product Manager

Javelina is transforming the health insurance value chain through an AI-first learning system and composable operating platform for healthcare payers. The Product Manager will own outcomes, roadmap, prioritization, and solution decisions for a specific customer journey or technical capability, partnering with Product Owners, Design, and Engineering to deliver measurable results.

Responsibilities:

• Own the roadmap and prioritization for your assigned area, turning strategy into clear problem statements, success metrics, and target personas before development begins
• Partner directly with Design and Engineering to make solution decisions — you won't be handed a feature list to execute
• Keep a clear record of major decisions and the tradeoffs behind them
• Own the “why” and “what” behind your backlog, while your Product Owner partner owns backlog readiness and sprint execution
• Meet regularly with your Product Owner partner(s) to resolve prioritization questions and introduce new direction into the backlog in a controlled way
• Escalate unresolved prioritization or capacity conflicts to product leadership rather than letting them stall
• If assigned to a platform/technical capability: safeguard your area's delivery capacity and represent it in cross-functional leadership reviews
• If assigned to a customer journey: coordinate with other Product Managers when your initiatives span multiple journeys or rely on shared platform capabilities
• Backlog readiness, story refinement, sprint execution, or release readiness — these belong to your Product Owner partner
• Day-to-day sprint ceremonies — you'll engage at planning and review milestones, not daily standups
• Overriding your Product Owner's routine delivery calls; you'll weigh in on new scope, not day-to-day execution decisions

Requirements:

• M.B.A or equivalent master's degree
• 8+ years of experience owning product outcomes in a complex, regulated domain — health plan administration, insurance, healthcare, or a comparable regulated industry
• Demonstrated ability to make solution decisions in close partnership with Design and Engineering, without needing feature-level direction from above
• Comfort operating within a defined planning and review cadence
• Skilled at eliciting and accurately capturing requirements from customers and cross-functional partners, and translating ambiguous input into clear problem statements
• Able to organize and synthesize large amounts of information into a coherent, prioritized roadmap
• Comfortable resolving conflict and competing priorities directly, escalating to leadership only when needed
• Strong cross-team collaborator — works fluidly with Design, Engineering, and other product stakeholders
• Disciplined about process adherence — follows the team's planning and review cadence consistently
• Subject-matter depth in claims adjudication and medical policy, actuarial-adjacent benefit plan structures, or eligibility/enrollment rules
