Project Engineering Manager

BrightNight is a high-growth renewable power developer and Independent Power Producer developing dispatchable and hybrid clean energy solutions across the United States. The Project Engineering Manager / Senior Manager will support the technical development and execution of utility-scale solar, battery energy storage, and hybrid renewable energy projects, coordinating engineering deliverables, risks, contracts, and cross-functional execution activities across the project lifecycle.

Responsibilities:

• Support the technical execution of multiple utility-scale solar, battery energy storage, and hybrid projects across development and execution phases
• Partner closely with Development and Origination to evaluate project configuration, site constraints, preliminary design, performance requirements, technical risks, cost assumptions, and other engineering considerations that influence commercial strategy and PPA execution
• Coordinate project designs, specifications, engineering deliverables, and execution strategies to align with project objectives, contractual requirements, schedule, performance expectations, and budget
• Coordinate internal and external engineering resources and help drive resolution of technical issues across Development, Procurement, Construction, Legal, Finance, and other project workstreams
• Review technical exhibits, scopes of work, specifications, and requirements within EPC contracts, equipment supply agreements, offtake agreements, and other project contracts
• Identify technical obligations, interfaces, assumptions, performance requirements, and potential gaps and work with Engineering, Legal, Commercial, and project leadership to resolve issues
• Track technical risks, opportunities, dependencies, and open decisions that may affect cost, schedule, performance, constructability, or contractual compliance
• Support Independent Engineer reviews, lender technical diligence, equipment evaluations, and responses to technical questions from financing parties
• Support commercial and technical negotiations with EPC contractors, equipment suppliers, consultants, and other external counterparties by coordinating technical inputs and tracking commitments
• Support engineering and construction teams during project execution, including management of submittals, RFIs, technical queries, field issues, change-related documentation, and other execution deliverables
• Participate in construction progress reviews, technical coordination meetings, constructability discussions, commissioning-readiness activities, and project handoffs as needed
• Identify opportunities to improve engineering processes, consultant utilization, project costs, construction support, documentation, and overall execution efficiency

Requirements:

• Approximately 3-7 years of experience in project engineering, engineering management, project execution, construction, or project management, preferably within utility-scale renewable energy or complex infrastructure
• Working knowledge of solar PV and BESS system design, construction, execution, and performance considerations
• Experience coordinating cross-functional teams and multiple engineering or project workstreams while maintaining accountability for deliverables, commitments, and deadlines
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications, project schedules, submittals, and construction documentation
• Experience supporting projects through development, procurement, construction, commissioning, or another execution phase
• Strong project management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple concurrent projects, priorities, and technical deliverables
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to translate technical issues into clear project impacts, risks, and recommended actions
• Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States without current or future employer sponsorship unless otherwise stated
• Experience supporting utility-scale solar and/or battery energy storage projects; experience with combined solar + storage projects strongly preferred
• Strong experience reviewing technical contracts, exhibits, scopes of work, specifications, and project requirements; experience with EPC contracts and equipment supply agreements is strongly preferred
• Experience working with EPC contractors, engineering consultants, equipment suppliers, Independent Engineers, owners' engineers, or construction contractors strongly preferred
