Operations & Maintenance Electrician

Location: Miami, FL 33130
Contract: 6 months, with potential for extension
Pay Rate: $34 $37/hour
Schedule: 1st shift, As required, including occasional on-call/emergency support

About the Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Operations & Maintenance Electrician to support a newly constructed municipal facility in Miami, FL. This role is part of a performance-based, 30-year Operations & Maintenance contract providing comprehensive hard and soft facility services.

The successful candidate will help ensure electrical systems and equipment operate safely, reliably, and according to specifications, supporting uninterrupted administrative and mission-critical operations.

What You'll Do

As an Operations & Maintenance Electrician, you will be responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing low-voltage electrical systems in a commercial, industrial, or institutional environment. Candidates should have a minimum of 5 years of practical, hands-on electrical experience, with strong commercial low-voltage experience preferred.

Key Responsibilities

• Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair low-voltage electrical systems in accordance with applicable codes and manufacturer specifications.
• Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on electrical equipment and systems.
• Diagnose electrical malfunctions, identify root causes, and implement effective corrective actions.
• Repair or replace defective electrical components using appropriate hand and power tools.
• Perform electrical system testing, adjustments, and operational checks.
• Read and interpret blueprints, electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals.
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, parts used, and labor hours.
• Work collaboratively with facility personnel, contractors, and other trades to complete projects efficiently.
• Follow all applicable safety procedures, company policies, building codes, and industry standards.
• Stay current with electrical regulations, technologies, and best practices through ongoing training.
• Provide professional customer service and respond effectively to facility or client concerns.
• Participate in on-call and emergency response activities as required.

Required / Preferred Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of hands-on electrical experience, preferably in commercial, industrial, or institutional environments.
• Strong commercial low-voltage electrical background.
• Proven experience with electrical installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair.
• Experience reading and interpreting electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical documentation.
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Journeyman Electrician License/Card preferred, but not required.
• Low-voltage electrical license or certification is a plus.
• Experience with HVAC electrical systems, maintenance, and troubleshooting is highly preferred.
• Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
• Ability to work independently and effectively as part of a team.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality and safety.
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
• Flexibility to support on-call or emergency requirements.

Important: Candidates should have a commercial, industrial, or institutional electrical background. Residential electricians and general handyman candidates will not be considered.
