Project Manager - Solid Waste

SCS Engineers is an employee-owned environmental engineering firm. The Project Manager will lead multidisciplinary solid waste and environmental engineering projects from planning through construction, while managing scopes, schedules, budgets, teams, clients, and regulatory coordination. The role also includes mentoring staff, leading technical design and permitting work, and supporting business development and client relationships.

Responsibilities:

• Manage engineering projects from conceptual planning through design, permitting, bidding, and construction support
• Develop and manage project scopes, schedules, budgets, and project teams
• Coordinate multidisciplinary staff including civil, geotechnical, environmental, and construction professionals
• Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, regulatory agencies, and contractors
• Participate in client development
• Mentor junior engineers and technical staff
• Support staff development, training, and project execution
• Lead engineering design and analysis for solid waste projects, including:
• Groundwater remediation systems
• Landfill cells, expansions, and closures
• Leachate collection systems
• Landfill gas collection and control systems
• Storm water management systems
• Grading and site development plans
• Transfer station permit modifications
• Prepare and review:
• Engineering calculations
• Technical reports
• Permit applications
• Construction drawings and specifications
• Cost estimates and engineering studies
• Perform coordination and provide support during construction and construction quality assurance (CQA) activities
• Be knowledgeable on regulatory permitting and compliance with:
• Federal coal combustion residual (CCR) regulations
• State solid waste and environmental regulations
• Air permitting related to landfill gas systems
• Storm water and water quality systems
• Coordinate with local and state regulatory agencies during permit review and approvals
• Lead preparation of technical proposals, scopes, and cost estimates
• Participate in client meetings, industry conferences, and professional organizations
• Identify and deliver opportunities to expand services with existing clients
• Plan, coordinate, and develop new client relationships in our industry

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Civil, Geological/Geotechnical, or Environmental Engineering required
• Minimum 8 years of professional engineering experience required, preferably in solid waste or environmental consulting required
• Demonstrated experience with remediation and solid waste infrastructure projects required
• Strong project management and organizational skills required
• Valid driver's license and driving record in good standing required
• Professional registration (e.g., P.E.) preferred
• Experience directing staff using AutoCAD and AutoCAD Civil3D design software preferred
