We are currently seeking an experienced Epidemiologist for a long-term contract opportunity supporting nonfatal overdose surveillance and public health analytics.
📍 Location: Nashville, TN
🏢 Hybrid: 1 day/week onsite required
📅 Contract: 10/01/2026 – 06/30/2027
⏰ Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–4:30 PM CST
⚠️ Must be a current Tennessee resident
• Support statewide nonfatal overdose surveillance activities
• Develop and validate surveillance definitions for emerging substances
• Work with ESSENCE and REDCap surveillance systems
• Analyze large public health and administrative datasets
• Develop monthly overdose burden and trend reports
• Build and maintain automated reporting tools
• Perform data quality assurance and validation
• Interpret and present overdose surveillance findings
• Collaborate with epidemiology, surveillance, and public health teams
✅ Master's degree in Epidemiology, Biostatistics, Public Health, or related field
✅ Experience with large surveillance or public health datasets
✅ Experience with SAS, SQL, R, Tableau, or similar tools
✅ Public health, syndromic surveillance, or overdose surveillance experience preferred
✅ Strong analytical, reporting, and data visualization skills
✅ Excellent communication and presentation abilities
✅ Ability to work independently and collaboratively
