Fractional Product Manager

Dipsea is an immersive audio platform devoted to intimacy, desire, and human connection. The Fractional Product Manager will lead discovery and delivery for focused product bets by conducting market and customer research, validating monetization strategies, defining features, and partnering with cross-functional teams through launch. This hands-on individual-contributor role also involves presenting recommendations to leadership and documenting product learnings.

Responsibilities:

• Market and competitive research. Map the landscape of audio, serialized fiction, sexual wellness, and subscription media apps. Build a competitive teardown of features, pricing, and positioning, and identify where Dipsea is differentiated and where we are behind
• Customer discovery. Design and run user interviews, analyze surveys with subscribers, trialists, churned users, and prospects. Synthesize qualitative and quantitative signals into segments, jobs to be done, and prioritized opportunities, and keep an insights repository the whole team can use
• Business model and monetization validation. Frame and test hypotheses about pricing, packaging, trials, and paywall design. Size opportunities, model the unit economics with analytics, validate willingness to pay, and recommend what to test and what to leave alone
• Feature definition and delivery. Turn validated insights into problem statements, product requirements with clear success metrics, and a prioritized backlog. Partner with engineering and design from scoping through launch, then measure the outcome and write the readout
• Communication. Write memos, decision docs, and experiment readouts that people actually read. Present findings and trade-offs to leadership, and maintain a living learnings document so what you find outlasts the engagement

Requirements:

• Have 4+ years of product management experience on consumer products, including time at a subscription app, and have worked as a hands-on IC on a small team
• Have run product discovery end to end: recruiting and interviewing users, writing and fielding surveys, synthesizing what you heard, and turning it into decisions
• Write clearly and concisely. Your specs are unambiguous, your memos have a recommendation in the first paragraph, and your presentations make a decision easier
• Are fluent with product data: funnels, cohorts, conversion, ARPU, churn, and LTV. You can pull what you need from Amplitude, Mixpanel, GA4, or basic SQL, and you know when a result is noise
• Can evaluate a business model, not just a feature: you have opinions about trials, tiers, and paywalls and can defend them with evidence
• Are comfortable working with explicit romantic and sexual content and can talk about it with users and colleagues in a professional, matter-of-fact way
• Are self-directed in a part-time, mostly asynchronous role: you set your own plan for the week, flag blockers early, and do not need a daily standup to make progress
• Part-time, contract, approximately 20-25 hours per week, with a consistent weekly rhythm agreed at hire and flexibility for user interviews across time zones
• Remote within the United States; must be authorized to work in the US
• Already use Dipsea, or a product like it, and can talk about it as a listener as well as a product person. You are part of the audience we serve, or close enough to it that our subscribers will open up to you in an interview
• Bonus: mobile app (iOS and Android) experience; content or media subscription businesses; paywall and onboarding design; A/B testing and experimentation platforms; pricing research methods such as Van Westendorp or conjoint; audio, podcast, audiobook, or romance publishing background
• New York City or Portland, Oregon preferred for occasional in-person working sessions
