Sr Data Engineer

Piper Companies is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to lead the design and implementation of a modern, cloud-based data platform supporting global luxury travel bookings. The role focuses on building scalable data solutions, optimizing integrations, providing technical leadership, and mentoring team members in a fully remote environment.

Responsibilities:

• Lead the design, development, and optimization of scalable data pipelines and ETL workflows supporting business-critical systems and analytics
• Utilize Microsoft Azure Fabric, Azure Data Factory, Spark, and Python to automate and enhance complex data processes
• Develop and maintain API integrations (REST and SOAP) while collaborating with third-party vendors and internal stakeholders
• Provide technical leadership through code reviews, mentorship, documentation, and guidance on data engineering best practices
• Monitor, troubleshoot, and improve data platform performance, ensuring reliability, scalability, and minimal downtime

Requirements:

• 5+ years of data engineering experience with strong expertise in SQL, Python, and modern data platforms
• Hands-on experience with data orchestration tools such as Azure Data Factory and strong understanding of ETL and data modeling concepts
• Leadership experience within a small or mid-sized environment, with a demonstrated ability to mentor team members and lead technical initiatives
• Must reside in the Eastern or Central Time Zone and be authorized to work in the United States
• Experience with Microsoft Azure Fabric preferred
• candidates with Snowflake or Databricks experience will also be considered
