Senior Civil Engineer - Land Development

BL Companies is an employee-owned engineering, architecture, land surveying, and environmental consulting firm. The Senior Civil Engineer will lead land development projects from inception through completion, manage client relationships and project teams, and ensure quality, schedule, and budget requirements are met. The role also involves public presentations, collaboration with agencies and partners, and mentoring junior staff.

Responsibilities:

• Lead the design and execution of retail, commercial, and residential land development projects
• Act as the primary client contact, building strong relationships and managing expectations
• Oversee project teams, assign resources, and drive efficiency
• Ensure projects meet all quality, schedule, and budgetary requirements
• Present at public meetings and represent clients before agencies and stakeholders
• Collaborate across multiple disciplines within BL Companies and with external partners
• Mentor junior engineers and staff, fostering a strong learning environment

Requirements:

• 8+ years of experience as a civil engineer with a PE license in the state they will be working out of
• experience with leadership and mentoring junior staff members
• PE License required
• 8+ years of experience in land development engineering
• Proven leadership experience managing full-time staff
• Strong understanding of local, state, and federal regulations
• Experience with municipal agencies, regulatory bodies, and private sector clients
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
