Director, Finance Business Partner - Central East Territory

The Alzheimer's Association is a voluntary health organization focused on Alzheimer’s care, support, research, risk reduction, early detection, and quality care. The Director, Finance Business Partner supports designated territories through finance, accounting, FP&A, fiscal reporting, analysis, budgeting, forecasting, compliance, and strategic business partnership. The role also supervises finance staff and helps business units achieve strategic goals and KPIs.

Responsibilities:

• Supervise finance staff within the designated business units
• Deliver strategic, embedded finance leadership and partnership to the business unit(s)
• Deliver financial support to the business unit, including generating standard Office Connect and Workday financial reports and communicate complex financial data in a way that is accessible and actionable for non-finance stakeholders
• Lead in delivering support to the business unit with benchmarks and other forecasting tools to drive success towards strategic goals
• Provide strategic support, guidance and recommendations to business unit staff in budgeting and forecasting; work to ensure overall accuracy while continuously improving and streamlining processes
• Lead the business unit in the areas of benchmarking, modeling, and variance analysis; provide ad hoc reporting as necessary
• Serve as a strategic liaison fostering collaboration and supporting a positive donor and constituent experience
• Provide specialized training/onboarding to business unit staff to promote financial education and literacy; train staff within the business unit on policies and procedures; address instances of non-compliance
• Manage the compliance in the use and release of restricted funds within the business units
• Ensure balance sheet account reconciliation support is provided, properly maintained, and accurate
• Ensure gifts are processed accurately and timely by the business units, in accordance with internal control best practices
• Ensure all accounting transactions comply with the Chart of Accounts and documentation standards, and process Workday entries promptly and accurately to support an efficient, timely, and precise month-end and year-end close
• Review and approve journal entries, accounting adjustments and reconciliations as needed
• Provide support during the Association's annual external audit and various internal audits as required
• Lead proficiencies in tools such as Workday, Power BI, Big Portal, Office Connect, Adaptive, CRM, HRM, Excel, Monday.com, and AI Tools.within the business unit to ensure maximum use of the tools
• Ensure revenue recorded in the CRM database & general ledger for the business unit(s) to verify accuracy
• Ensure expenses recorded in HRM & general ledger for the business unit(s) to verify accuracy
• Oversee the use of reserve balances of the chapters, when applicable
• Assist with other deliverables as assigned
• Other duties as assigned

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting
• 7+ years Not-for-Profit financial accounting experience
• Solid knowledge and application of GAAP
• Excellent track record of leading and managing a team with ability to manage geographically dispersed staff
• Proficiency with Google and Microsoft Office applications and other databases, especially MS Excel
• Experience with ERPs
• High level of interpersonal skills with the ability to grow and maintain relationships and provide preeminent customer service
• Forward thinking, analytical and detail-oriented personality combined with a professional presence
• Strong ability to learn new software tools, develop subject matter expertise and train and share knowledge with others
• Well honed communications skills, both written and verbal
• Ability to handle stressful situations and meet deadlines
• CPA a plus
• preferably with a non-profit of similar size and scale to the Alzheimer's Association
• Familiarity with Workday and Workday Adaptive Planning is preferred
