Software Engineer III, WebApp

Shippo builds logistics technology and infrastructure that connects merchants with carriers through a unified API and dashboard. The company is seeking a Software Engineer III for its WebApp - Lighthouse team to build scalable web application features, improve customer experiences, and partner with product managers and designers. The role also involves technical ownership, operational support, infrastructure improvements, and cross-functional collaboration.

Responsibilities:

• System Design & Development: Build and maintain the full stack web application features including scalable, distributed microservices
• Technical Leadership: Own complex features from technical design to production deployment, adhering to high-performance and reliability standards
• Engineering Excellence: Enhance and support core web application stack, ensuring performance and accuracy for high-throughput traffic
• Operational Health: Participate in on-call rotations, troubleshoot production incidents, and maintain high SLAs
• Collaboration & Mentorship: Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Product, Infrastructure, Designer, API Partners) and setting high engineering standards
• Infrastructure: Improve CI/CD pipelines, container-based software distribution (Docker, Kubernetes), and observability

Requirements:

• Minimum 7+ years of experience in software development
• Experience building and maintaining highly available, scalable web applications
• Proficiency in programming language and frameworks commonly used in full-stack development on distributed systems. (e.g.,React, Python, Go, Kafka, SQL, NoSQL)
• Strong understanding of software architecture, object-oriented programming, and design patterns
• Experience with AI assisted development workflow
• Can effectively communicate to stakeholders across different organizations within the company
• Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across teams
• BSc in a STEM field
