Software Engineer

CYVL is a Physical AI company building sensors, computer vision, and AI systems that provide infrastructure intelligence for cities and towns. The Software Engineer will build and own production systems across Python services, cloud data pipelines, APIs, and the web platform, while integrating government tools and improving system scalability and reliability.

Responsibilities:

• Design, build, and ship production systems across our stack: Python services, cloud data pipelines, APIs, and the Cyvl web platform
• Own features from idea to production, working directly with product, data operations, and customers to understand the problem first
• Build the APIs and integrations (Esri ArcGIS, Cartegraph, and more) that put Cyvl data inside the tools governments already use
• Make our systems faster, cheaper, and more reliable as we scale to more cities, more miles, and more data
• Use AI coding tools every day to move faster, and help shape how our team builds with them

Requirements:

• 3+ years of professional software engineering experience
• for senior candidates, 5+ years and a track record of leading technical projects
• Strong Python and experience building production backend systems
• Experience with cloud infrastructure (AWS preferred), containers (Docker, Kubernetes), and CI/CD
• Comfort owning ambiguous problems end to end and shipping iteratively
• Clear communication with both technical and non-technical teammates
• AWS
• Geospatial data or tools (PostGIS, GDAL, ArcGIS, QGIS)
• Infrastructure as Code (Terraform), Go, or TypeScript/React
• 3D graphics or point cloud work (Three.js, WebGL, LiDAR)
• Large-scale ELT pipelines or data lakehouses
• Early-stage startup experience or a history of building from zero to one
