Manager, Assistant Corporate Counsel – Advertising & Field Marketing

DICK'S Sporting Goods is a sports retailer seeking an early-career in-house attorney to support advertising and field marketing initiatives. The role provides legal advice on marketing campaigns and promotions, drafts and negotiates commercial agreements, supports compliance and risk management, and collaborates with cross-functional business teams.

Responsibilities:

• Under the guidance of senior attorneys, review and advise on marketing campaigns, advertisements, promotional materials, digital content, influencer initiatives, and customer-facing communications
• Counsel business teams on compliance with advertising, marketing, sweepstakes, contest, consumer protection, endorsement, and promotional laws
• Assist in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a range of commercial agreements supporting field and community-based marketing initiatives (e.g., sponsorship, event, collaboration, licensing, influencer, and vendor agreements)
• Support the contract lifecycle process and escalate issues to senior attorneys as appropriate
• Support internal clients in understanding and complying with applicable laws related to promotions, events, and marketing practices
• Assist in maintaining templates, guidance materials, and training resources, and help monitor legal and regulatory developments affecting marketing and community activations
• Work closely with marketing, community engagement, partnerships, merchandising, and operations teams, as well as internal legal subject matter experts (e.g., privacy, regulatory, and AI)
• Provide support on routine matters, contribute to cross-functional initiatives, and escalate more complex issues as needed
• Support special projects and other legal department initiatives as assigned

Requirements:

• Advanced Degree - Juris Doctorate
• 1-3 years experience
• Experience advising clients on advertising, marketing, promotions, or consumer-facing initiatives
• Strong written, verbal, negotiation, and issue-spotting skills
• Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment with strong attention to detail
• Experience drafting and negotiating agreements
• Ability to provide concise, practical, and business-focused legal advice
