Geotechnical Project Engineer

Terracon is a multidisciplinary consulting firm providing geotechnical and other engineering and technical services. The Geotechnical Project Engineer will manage large geotechnical projects, coordinate with engineers and subject-matter experts, and support project resource management, scheduling, and budgeting. The role also involves geotechnical analysis, field exploration, reporting, design support, construction observation, and client communication.

Responsibilities:

• Preparation of proposals and cost estimates, tracking project progress, budgets, and recommending changes
• Assisting in the execution of geotechnical field exploration using standard and innovative tools
• Assignment, review, and evaluation of laboratory and field data for site characterization
• Geotechnical engineering analysis, calculations, and recommendations
• Design and development of plans and specifications
• Writing, preparation, and review of related reports for the services provided
• Reviewing drawings and collaboration with construction teams to assure compliance with plans and specifications
• Observation and inspection of construction
• Research and resolution of design and construction problems
• Communication of complex engineering issues and concepts to technical and non-technical clients and project teams in a collaborative manner

Requirements:

• BS or MS in Civil/Geotechnical Engineering
• Minimum 5 years experience managing geotechnical projects for large infrastructure clients
• Proven program‑management skills with ability to handle multiple concurrent projects
• Strong knowledge of geotechnical investigation methods and data interpretation
• Excellent communication and client‑facing abilities
• Experience working in a fast‑paced, matrixed organization
• Commitment to safety and quality standards
• PE license preferred
