Responsible for providing advisory services to institutional clients focused on financing commercial real estate.
Manages pre-closing risk review of commercial real estate transactions, liaising with lenders, borrowers, and brokers on new loan originations on behalf of institutional, investment and government sponsored lenders.
Provides financial risk management and insurance requirements based on deal type, geography and lender requirements.
Analyzes proposed insurance coverage and related risk mitigation including financial reserves and borrower guarantees and identifying and communicating insurance coverage gaps to borrower and broker for resolution.
Collaborate with clients and existing team to review newly originated loan information for commercial real estate properties to determine construction liability exists.
Identify and remediate coverage issues and discrepancies thus alleviating loan closing barriers.
Function as team and client subject matter expert, staying current on existing and future risk issues, coverage, and market changes.
Liaises with underwriting and credit review teams to explain and mitigate potential risk exposures by proposing customized solutions.
Reviews proposed restrictions and exclusions and prepares analyses for discussion purposes.
Works with borrower representatives to ensure the appropriate coverages are in place at time of closing and that evidence is provided.
Delivers complete deal package including certificates of insurance when working independently on stand-alone transactions.
Complies with business management system data standards and data integrity (enter and maintain complete and accurate information).
Participates in a relationship management role developing client processes, annual meetings, and standards maintenance.
Ability to train new associates, guide transaction management and willingness to lead a small team. Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience, with Risk and Insurance Management and Business-related curriculum preferred.
10 or more years of experience related to Commercial Insurance Risk, claims management, risk management, or lender side financing; specific experience with high value or portfolio commercial property and liability preferred.
