In collaboration with communications colleagues and as the lead video producer, develop and execute a visual storytelling strategy that captures the full range of academic, research, and student experiences across Trinity.
Lead the end-to-end production of video projects, including concept development, scripting and storyboarding support, scheduling, filming, editing, and final delivery.
Plan and manage video and photography shoots, including coordinating logistics, directing subjects, setting up lighting and audio, and adapting quickly to varied environments.
Produce high-quality photography and limited graphic design assets to complement video projects and support broader editorial, web, and social media needs.
Edit and refine visual content based on stakeholder feedback, ensuring timely delivery and strong alignment with strategic goals.
Stay current with emerging trends, tools, and best practices in video and multimedia storytelling.
Build relationships with multimedia peers across Duke to share ideas and expertise.
Recommend external vendors or professional services when appropriate to meet project needs.
Contribute to the management of Trinity’s digital asset management system, maintaining a clear taxonomy and ensuring assets are well organized, searchable, and accessible.
Assist with the retrieval and distribution of Trinity’s visual assets for internal partners.
Contribute to the maintenance of the team’s photography and videography equipment inventory, including evaluating new tools, recommending purchases and performing routine maintenance.
Requirements
Work requires the ability to perform creative writing and related activities such as conducting interviews and research, and copy editing normally acquired through attainment of a bachelor's degree in Journalism, English or a related discipline.
Work requires two years of directly related writing experience.
Requires an understanding of visual media to coordinate and direct the production of such projects, generally acquired through the completion of a bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications or another discipline related to media production.
At least two years of professional videography and photography experience and the ability to create a variety of creative, artistic and skilled videography and photography activities.
Five or more years of experience, including professional work in higher education, is preferred.
