Lead analysis, sourcing and negotiation activities with Class I and Shortline railroad agreements
Develop and manage procurement strategies that improve cost competitiveness, service reliability, and supplier accountability across the rail network
Utilize CHS freight procurement and rate management systems including Tratics to maintain accurate pricing, contract terms, and supplier performance data
Conduct freight rate analysis, market benchmarking, and cost modeling to support contract negotiations and annual sourcing strategies
Identify savings opportunities through competitive bidding, contract optimization, supplier consolidation, and rebate or incentive structures
Partner with internal stakeholders across Operations, Logistics, Finance, and Commercial teams to align procurement decisions with business needs
Support development of standardized procurement policies, processes, and reporting tools to improve governance and compliance across rail spend
Identify rate discrepancies that lead to invoice errors and correct root cause
Maintain strong supplier relationships while ensuring adherence to CHS safety expectations and operational standards
Perform other procurement-related responsibilities as assigned
Requirements
High School diploma or GED
4+ years of experience in Supply Chain and/or Procurement
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Access, and Excel
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Logistics, or related field (additional qualification)
Experience supporting rail or freight transportation procurement at an enterprise level
Advanced knowledge of freight rate structures, contract negotiations, and supplier performance management
Experience with PowerBI creation, JDE, SAP, Tratics, and Kaleris
