Provide expert advice and guidance on work techniques and best practices for steel structures, concrete foundation design, and anchoring design.
Lead large scope multi-discipline projects and manage day-to-day workflow projects.
Identify tasks, deadlines, and assignments to ensure project is completed within schedule and budget.
Keep managers and stakeholders aware of project status.
Develop, implement and modify internal design guidelines, specifications, and design control procedures and communicate to ensure they are reflected and adhered to within each project.
Develop, review, analyze, modify and/or approve conceptual and detailed engineering design packages from drafting/design team, while assessing materials, adhering to safe design practices, identifying cost saving opportunities, following company standards, project specifications and budget.
Manage and facilitate client and vendor relationships to promote positive long-term partnerships.
Prepare, review, and approve advanced level specifications, drawings, reports, and calculations for project assignments.
Ensure compliance of deliverables against project specifications and/or company standards.
Visit project sites to provide civil engineering support and to identify and resolve problems as well as vendor facilities for evaluation or inspection.
Prepare or direct preparation and modification of reports, specifications, plans, and/or construction schedules for projects.
Prepare inquiry and purchase requisitions as well as bid tabulations associated with purchases.
Assess challenges and potential risks of planned projects, including construction costs, specification and regulation requirements, potential environmental hazards and other factors and develop contingencies to address in project plan.
Conduct technical and feasibility studies including site investigations.
Train and guide project engineers and other non-technical stakeholders for technical and project related issues.
Further the goals and positive, professional image of the Substation Division by conducting business with other MEPPI departments and outside contacts in a timely and cooperative manner.
Requirements
Bachelors degree in civil engineering with a minimum of 10 years of civil design with previous project lead experience, or equivalent education and experience.
Knowledge of structural design codes (ASCE, AISC, ACI, IBC, etc.).
Advanced knowledge of foundation and structure materials testing.
Advanced ability to read, understand, and create technical drawings and material.
Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills.
Advanced interpersonal and communication skills required to communicate with customers, employees, and suppliers.
Advanced computer skills with emphasis on MSOffice products, CAD and engineering analysis software.
