Registered Nurse, Lactation Consultant

Role Overview

• Assess, plan, implement, evaluate and document nursing care of patients
• Round on patients in L&D, Postpartum, and the NICU
• Assist with breastfeeding and provide education about breastfeeding, latching, and pumping to both patients and staff
• Formulate individualized lactation plans of care, education and intervention
• Deliver continuing education programs related to lactation
• Provide community and staff education in the specialty area of lactation
• Act as subject matter expert for patients and staff

Requirements

• Current RN licensure in state of practice
• IBCLC, CLC, CBC or CBS certification required
• Current BLS certification required
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) Certification must be obtained within six months
• Minimum of one year of lactation consultant experience in a WIS environment or setting.
