Leads all the technical aspects related the following areas within IT: datacenter network, enterprise corporate connectivity, cloud network technologies, wireless LAN infrastructure, DNS, SDN, and SD-WAN technologies.
Following AVANGRID Standards, defines technological direction of the team.
Point of escalation for technical items.
Delivers excellent levels operational stability and reliability to the enterprise network infrastructure.
Defines operational programs and identify opportunities for improving operational efficiency and reliability as demanded by AVANGRID Corporate applications.
Defines and executes programs and projects to ensure network infrastructure is correctly life cycled (hardware and software), patched, and maintained.
Defines and executes road map for future growth based on company needs, company strategy, considering technological evolution and continuous transformation.
Provides leadership and oversight on all technical aspects of the area, including technical engineering, operational readiness, early adopter and pilot programs, technology transition and transformation; technology adoption; service delivery and service support.
Defines Obsolescence guidelines & standards, including obsolescence process and exception procedures.
Manages risk acceptance register/tracker and monitors obsolescence risk mitigation.
Leads Cloud computing initiatives in AVANGRID. Defines company strategy.
Provides technical and economical assessment about the best approach to deploy cloud network services.
Manages a technically strong team, including task prioritization, performance monitoring, task assignment, task status reporting, project work, resources capabilities.
Retains and develops staff skills through mentoring and guided training.
Supervises and evaluates technical security capabilities for all technical components managed by the Network engineering team. Security from the design. Champions best practices in a high-volume, dynamic environment.
Ensures the enterprise has the capability to support new technology and maintain high levels of service.
Creates a sustainable IT environment to facilitate growth while maintaining required regulatory compliance and end user requirements.
Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science/Security systems or a related field and a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience.
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Relevant experience includes IT or Technology on any capability.
Minimum of two years as a Technology Manager, including managerial experience in strategic project execution, strategic planning, risk management, and change management while engaging and influencing various stakeholders at all levels across the company.
Demonstrated history managing engineering teams covering some of the following technologies: routing, switching, enterprise wireless, telecommunications, VoIP, SIP, enterprise Cisco voice infrastructure, etc.
Strong history of managing complex efforts with demanding customers.
Proven experience in strategic project execution, strategic planning, risk management, and change management while engaging and influencing various stakeholders at all levels across the company.
Ability to organize, prioritize, and coordinate multiple work activities and meet target deadline.
Ability to communicate with and influence technical and non-technical customers, colleagues, and vendors.
Ability to share knowledge and mentor and manage less experienced team members.
Strong commitment to personnel safety and IT security.
Travel within the US and to Europe may be required, as needed.
