Role Overview
The Sr. Construction Manager will be responsible for the overall field execution plan.
This position will be accountable for all pre-execution planning activities to ensure all necessary construction packages have been reviewed and are available for use.
The Sr. Construction Manager will be responsible for all site execution matters, including direct-hire and subcontracted labor supervision, safe and timely performance of the work, and ensuring quality standards are Maintained.

Prepare and develop a construction team of experienced and capable supervisory personnel, including succession planning for key individuals.
Utilize project master schedule to create detailed look ahead schedules for Superintendents.
Monitor and manage risks, develop recovery strategies when project schedule or budget are in jeopardy.
Assume responsibility for productivity of direct hire trade labor and subcontractors, efficient use of materials and tools & equipment and contractual performance of the project.
Application of home company discipline policies and appropriate escalation of performance concerns.
Participation in Performance Management Committee.
Ensure trades personnel complete all necessary training in areas of safety, quality assurance, technical qualifications, equipment operation, and owner specified requirements.
Managing employee Onboarding and Offboarding including communication with payroll and training coordinators.
Ensure project is constructed in compliance with drawings and specifications.
Lead the early development and validation stage of the projects with a vision of excellence.
This includes design constructability reviews, site early preparation and mobilization plans, performing layout sequence optimization, identifying modular and offsite fabrication shop needs, and establishing site construction schedules and sequence in close cooperation with the Project Director and other project stakeholders.
Provides direction and input to the project schedule and budget while understanding the interfaces to Construction from Engineering and Procurement.
Maintain strong relationships with building trade unions.
Maintain a positive relationship with client construction counterpart.
Support in the resolution of labour disputes through collaboration with EPSCA and Aecon Labor Relations Manager.
Identifies all required construction permits and ensures permits are obtained prior to work execution and closed following work area completion.
Reviews project design for compliance with construction-based engineering principles, company standards, regulatory authorities, customer contract requirements and related specifications.
Advice on construction related activities relating to technical developments, scheduling and resolving engineering design and test problems.
Extensive knowledge of Construction Work Package development, completion, and record-keeping.
Provides input to procurement activities including validation of material specifications, preparation of purchase requisitions, critical material tracking, and ensuring traceability of materials when installed in the field.
Active involvement in quality assurance with regards to understanding and implementing policies and procedures.
Requirements
Minimum of 15 years construction and subcontractor supervision experience.
Due to the nature of work conducted by Aecon, mandated nuclear export controls requirements must be met for employment.
Excellent analytical and organizational skills.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Extensive knowledge of self-perform trades work, estimating and employee relations required.
Requires proficient trades union relations management skills and a solid understanding of union agreements applicable to the work.
Knowledge of all aspects of construction such as technology, equipment, methods, trade agreements and jurisdiction, engineering, cost control, scheduling and safety requirements.
Must understand how to create, lead, and maintain a positive Nuclear and Industrial Safety Culture.
Must have a full appreciation of the importance of Quality Assurance Programs.
