About this role
Role Overview
Responsible for encouraging and providing nuclear safety culture education where all workers understand and are comfortable in raising safety concerns, issues or time outs
Manages operations personnel on a given shift to ensure work is performed efficiently and in accordance with policies and procedures
Ensures facility is operated in accordance with all requirements, including, but not limited to, operational safety, process, environment and plant operating procedures.
Ensures minimum staffing requirements.
Invokes authority and obligation to shut down plant operations or direct any action to ensure the plant meets requirements and is safe to operate
Sets standards for the operation of the facility and enforces conduct of operations standards
Responsible for enforcing company and site safety, security, quality assurance and personnel policies.
Ensures shift crews review changes to procedures and policies
Develops plans and path forward actions to address emergent shift needs as a result of failed equipment or changing conditions
Ensures surveillance requirements are scheduled, completed and tracked
Authorizes work and plant configuration changes (i.e., the removal or return to service of equipment and systems for maintenance, testing, or operational activities, and operational activities that require abnormal lineups)
Authorizes the installation of equipment lockouts. This authority may not be delegated. Ensures qualified operations personnel install lockouts for maintenance work
Tours the plant at least once per shift, troubleshooting and setting operator expectations, checking on evolutions and inspecting plant conditions
Performs administrative functions including the training, development and performance assessment of personnel
Other duties as assigned
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in a related technical discipline with experience in a relevant engineering, operations and/or maintenance function; or Associates of Science or Associates of Applied Science degree or non-technical Bachelor’s degree with relevant experience in engineering, operations or maintenance function; or High School Diploma or GED with relevant experience in engineering, operations or maintenance function
Experience working in a nuclear facility or nuclear site
Deviations to Education and Experience Requirements must follow requirements of DOE Order 426.2. Facility qualification process including extensive classroom, formal on-the-job training, and oral board examination conducted by facility management must be completed within one year of assignment to the position
Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Science, Previous supervisory experience
