About this role

Performs mid-level (journeyman) FOIA processing with minimal supervision.
Reviews and interprets FOIA requests, conducts or validates searches, applies exemptions, prepares releasable records.
Ensures responses meet statutory and VA requirements.
Provides technical accuracy, consistency, and support to junior staff.
Contributes to efficient workflow management and quality FOIA production.

Must be a U.S. citizen.
Minimum of two (2) years of FOIA request processing within the last 36 months.
Comprehensive knowledge of FOIA exemptions, request types, timelines, and fee categories.
Ability to analyze and interpret FOIA requests and determine tasking and search requirements.
Skilled in conducting or validating searches for responsive records.
Proficient in applying redaction software accurately and documenting exemption decisions.
Strong written communication skills for drafting responses and summaries.
