Lead medium-voltage (MV) electrical engineering design for renewable energy projects including solar PV, BESS, and wind
Provide senior technical leadership and serve as a subject matter expert for electrical engineering teams
Oversee QA/QC reviews of electrical designs, calculations, redlines, and construction deliverables
Mentor engineers and drafters, ensuring technical accuracy and high-quality drawing production
Collaborate with Project Managers, Technical Leads, and multi-discipline teams across all project phases
Develop scopes of work, technical specifications, and phased design packages (30%, 60%, IFC)
Perform and review electrical calculations including load flow, short circuit, grounding, protective coordination, ampacity, voltage drop, and equipment sizing
Apply expertise in MV collection systems with working knowledge of HV substations and gen-tie systems
Ensure compliance with NEC, IEEE, NFPA, NERC, utility standards, and permitting requirements
Support proposals with engineering scopes, design assumptions, and cost estimates
Conduct power system and interconnection studies (CESIR, SIS, BOP solutions)
Support construction with field engineering, site visits, and as-built reviews
Drive continuous improvement through updated standards, processes, and engineering tools
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university
15+ years of electrical engineering experience supporting renewable energy and power generation projects
Active Professional Engineer (PE) license required
Experience with solar PV, BESS, wind, and renewable EPC projects
Proven expertise in short circuit, load flow, grounding, protective coordination, cable sizing, ampacity, and equipment sizing
Ability to read and interpret MV/HV single-line diagrams (SLDs)
Proficiency with AutoCAD, PVCase, PVSyst, ETAP, SKM, and Civil 3D
Strong working knowledge of IEEE, NFPA, NEC, and NERC codes
Understanding of renewable and conventional power plant regulatory environments, DC/AC systems, and interconnection processes
