Partner with internal engineering teams and Business Units to assess how opportunities align with Caterpillar’s strategic focus areas.
Analyze the competitive landscape to determine target differentiation, defensibility, and strategic relevance.
Develop clear recommendations on whether to build, partner, acquire, or invest, supported by data and structured analysis.
Translate complex analyses into concise, compelling narratives for senior leadership decision-making.
Build high-quality, executive-ready presentations that clearly frame the opportunity, risks, tradeoffs, and recommended path forward.
Support handoff to the Act role for execution when opportunities advance

Strong ability to assess opportunities holistically, integrating market, technology, customer, and competitive insights.
Experience working effectively with engineers, Business Units, and functional teams to gather inputs and test assumptions.
Ability to evaluate competitive environments, alternative solutions, and relative positioning.
Comfort breaking ambiguous problems into clear frameworks, hypotheses, and decision points.
A demonstrated “superpower” in telling a clear, persuasive story—particularly through clean, well-structured presentations.
