Associate Patient Financial Counselor

Role Overview

• Interact with patients and their families to resolve patient accounts through financial clearance
• Collect payments and obtain sponsorship for financial assistance
• Determine eligibility for Providence St. Joseph Health Financial Assistance
• Provide education and facilitate completion of Medicaid/MediCal applications
• Make referrals for enrollment support

Requirements

• H.S. Diploma or GED
• 2 years of experience in a hospital, clinic, or healthcare business office preferred
• 2 years of experience in automated, computerized account follow-up system, preferably in Epic
• Knowledge in reimbursement of health care accounts from insurance companies preferred
• Previous experience with medical and health plan terminology
