Reporting to the Centre Director, the Associate Director position is critical with responsibilities for assisting in the overall management, administration, development, co-ordination and monitoring of services in a correctional facility.
Responsible for the allocation of human, financial and material resources in a manner consistent with the efficient and orderly delivery of institutional services.
Liaise and coordinate with other correctional service agencies and government ministries, offender programs, courts, private agencies, and police agencies.
Manage all legal correspondence and provide required replies.
Be the centre representative in testifying in court for legal purposes.
Manage and respond to all Ombudsman, Human Rights and Office of the Privacy Commissioner requests.
Make recommendations to the Centre Director regarding branch and centre policies and procedures.
Direct supervisory responsibility for the remand centre's management team.
Constitute executive authority within the remand centre.
Requirements
University graduation in a related field (Criminology, Law Enforcement, Justice Studies, etc.)
Seven years of progressively responsible experience (Deputy Director, Assistant Deputy Director, Director, Senior Manager)
Equivalencies: related experience or education may be considered as an equivalency on a one for one basis.
Demonstrated management experience within a large-scale business operation and/or complex organization.
Related experience within a law enforcement agency, including most recent emergency management experience within the law enforcement and correctional environment
Preference will be given to candidates with direct management experience within the Correctional Services Division.
Post-secondary education and/or continued professional development in leadership, management, human resources, change management, or emergency management will be considered an asset.
