Build enterprise-scoped strategies across assigned sub-categories in one of the largest cost pools of indirect spend at Medtronic, utilizing traditional and alternative value levers and approaches to drive year-over-year value.
Achieve year-over-year value improvements for all aspects of quality, service, and innovation while understanding TCO (total cost of ownership) for assigned sub-categories.
Lead contract negotiations that support and align with key stakeholder needs and requirements, and align with enterprise-wide Medtronic strategies.
Gather market intelligence and trends for relevant categories and sub-categories; Strive to become and demonstrate subject matter expertise for assigned sub-categories.
Perform RF(x) activities to drive competitive pressure and ensure maximum value is realized.
Recommend solutions to business problems and/or identify opportunities for improvement and present ideas and value creation business cases to multiple functions (E.g., EHS, Operations, Finance, Microbiology, Facilities, etc).
Identify insourcing and outsourcing opportunities.
Build strategic relationships with internal stakeholders and establish yourself as a trusted advisor for assigned sub-categories.
Partner closely with key functions that support supply management (E.g., Legal, Finance, Quality, EHS, etc).
Lead and assist in Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) activities and develop governance for suppliers in your assigned sub-categories.
Work with the internal Sourcing Administration team to expand and utilize internal purchase catalogs to support guided buying processes reflective of broader category strategies.
Engage and influence multiple stakeholders to create and implement strategies in a highly matrixed organization.
Develop and establish a data gathering and maintenance process to ensure spend transparency and accuracy, and support the development of a baseline for sourcing cost reduction efforts.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree required.
Minimum of 7 years of relevant sourcing or supply chain experience or an advanced degree with 5 years of relevant sourcing or supply chain experience
Demonstrated experience in building and executing successful category strategies in the MRO space
Category management experience with a global company (strategy development and execution following strategic sourcing methodology)
Proficient in understanding and speaking to relevant company Financial terms that measure overall company performance and how your role impacts these measurements (E.g., P&L, gross margin, EBIT, cash flow/working capital improvement, etc).
Continuous improvement (CI) mindset
Proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, and Power BI
Demonstrated experiences in problem-solving, negotiations, tact, judgment, high attention to detail, and organizational skills
Demonstrated written and verbal communication
Working knowledge of SAP/Ariba spend management tools
Experience building and presenting sourcing-focused business cases
Ability to partner with and influence internal technical experts
Influencing teams and external suppliers to deliver results
Strong program management skills
