Acting as a single point of contact for the intake and triage of Pricing and LPM Business As Usual (“BAU”) requests, including tracking/monitoring current Pricing and LPM team workloads, evaluating new opportunity requirements/involvement and timelines, assessing individual Pricing and LPM team member capacity/capabilities, delegating to the appropriate Pricing and LPM team member and informing requestor/lawyer of selected resource to coordinate on next steps (including looping in the Proposals team if required).
Assessing and approving pricing approval requests for Alternative Fee Arrangements (AFAs) of up to $100,000, and provide commentary and guidance as required.
Acting as main point of contact with Finance including Business Insights and Billings teams for escalations, best practice sharing/implementation and troubleshooting.
Acting as subject matter expert and point of contact for a suite of Pricing and LPM processes and best practices, including bank AFA processes, client-specific arrangements/reporting, and pricing committee approvals.
Working closely and building relationships with lawyers through managing and strategizing on the pricing and service-delivery related aspects of pitches and proposals.
Developing Alternative Fee Arrangements (“AFAs”) and budgets for clients across all MT offices, as well as managing the process of setting and negotiating hourly rates for strategic and institutional clients.
Prepare and manage client reporting requirements ranging from individual reports/requests to recurring matter portfolio reports.
Developing template budget and project management tools for different matter types, and fee data analytics and other pricing tools to streamline the budgeting process for client matters.
Overseeing budgeting software, Iridium Matter Module, and ensureing optimal performance and continual improvement and engage with vendor in relation to potential enhancements and implementation of upgrades.
Project leadership for AFA Workflow priority project for roll-out to various practices and sub-practices.
Developing profitability analysis of AFAs being contemplated for new client matters or monitoring profitability of AFAs already in use for existing matters.
Leading the recruitment and hiring process of prospective Pricing and LPM team members, including onboarding and training new hires.
Mentoring, goal setting, continual training, feedback to and development of all Pricing and LPM team members.
Acting as main point of contact for pricing related questions or general pitch/RFP related questions.
Providing general training and education to lawyers, staff and externally on pricing and legal project management strategies, approaches and tools.
Enhancing the Firm’s use of legal project management and overseeing the monitoring of matters across all offices that are being project-managed.
Promoting various service delivery efficiency initiatives, including in relation to alternative staffing approaches, the use of technology tools for different legal processes, and the reengineering of legal services.
Collaborating with the Clients and Markets team on BAU projects, including client proposals, as well as special projects.
Requirements
Completed post-secondary education in a related field.
A minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in a legal or professional services organization, with at least 5 years of experience working directly in client service innovation, pricing and budgeting.
Ability to effectively influence and lead multiple levels of an organization, across functional boundaries.
Solid working knowledge of Business Intelligence concepts (e.g. reporting, querying tools, spreadsheets, dashboards, and data mining).
Strong communication skills, including prioritizing, problem-solving and interpersonal relationship building.
Proven time management and organization skills (must be able to prioritize workload and meet deadlines).
High level of attention to detail.
Ability to learn quickly in a dynamic environment.
Ability to follow-up on activities without delays and to work both autonomously and on teams.
Solid computer knowledge including the Microsoft Office Suite, especially in Excel.
Ability to use Internet research methods, and to keep up-to-date with changes in technology.
