Role Overview
- Ensures timely collection of outstanding healthcare insurance receivables
- Verifies or obtains patient eligibility and/or authorization
- Updates patient demographics and/or insurance information
- Conducts research and appropriately statuses unpaid or denied claims
- Monitors claims for missing information, authorization, and control numbers
- Researches EOBs for payments or adjustments
- Contacts payers by phone or written correspondence to secure payment
- Accesses client systems for information regarding received payments
- Follows guidelines for prioritization and timely filing deadlines
- Secures medical documentation as required by insurance carriers
- Prepares claims for clinical audit processing
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- At least two years of experience in healthcare insurance accounts receivable follow up
- Experience identifying billing errors and resubmitting claims
- Experience reviewing EOB and UB-04 forms
- Knowledge of accounts receivable practices and medical business office procedures
- At least two years of experience with accounts receivable software
- Experience navigating payer sites for appeals/reconsiderations
- Demonstrated ability to navigate Internet Explorer and Microsoft Office including Excel
- Demonstrated success working both individually and in a team environment
- Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams
