Responsible for the full lifecycle management of Utility-Scale High Voltage Substation Projects (typically 69kV–500kV) executed under EPC or construction-only contracts.
Serves as the primary commercial and operational lead, managing scope, cost, schedule, quality, safety, subcontractors, vendors, and client/utility relationships.
Review and coordinate, Generator Interconnection Agreements, Utility Interconnection requirements, Contract requirements, System Impact Studies, Facility Studies, and Customer/Owner Engineer requirements to ensure Project compliance.
Coordinate closely with engineering teams to ensure design aligns with contract scope, budget, and constructability.
Work with Engineering team to ensure procurement and material deliveries are aligned with the P6 schedule.
Review LNTP/Early-Stage Deliverables.
Develop, manage, and forecast EPC substation budgets.
Track cost performance and maintain accurate cost-to-complete forecasts.
Generate monthly pacing reports to ensure project pacing is on track with budget.
Develop subcontractor scopes of work and support subcontracting efforts to execute subcontracts.
Manage HV subcontractors (billings, RFIs, status reports, risk, etc.)
Lead HV scope management and negotiate change orders with owners and subcontractors.
Schedule and Participate in Project Kick-Off Meeting (On Site).
Participating in Utility Coordination Meetings.
Participate in Owner Coordination Meetings.
Participating in Material Procurement Review.
Hold Construction Schedule & Scope Review Meeting.
Lead coordination efforts with SCADA resources.
Coordinate station process Energization Support/Initial Synchronization.
Manage Oversee testing and commissioning activities in coordination with field and commissioning teams.
Assemble Final Completion Punchlist to support project closeout.
Manage final completion punch list and turnover documentation.
Ensure compliance with all energization and safety protocols.
Manage APM’s (Assistant Project Managers) to ensure compliance and Performance.
Mentor Project Engineers, Project Admins, and other junior level employees.
Demonstrate and maintain a safe work environment, and direct safe work practices in energized substations.
Maintain flexibility in availability due to 24/7 operations.
Regular travel (local and inter-state) required to support project execution.
Complete other responsibilities as assigned.
Requirements
Minimum 5 years of work-related experience in design and/or construction of Utility Scale Substation ranging from 69kv -500kv
Licensed Professional Engineer, PMP certification, or directly relevant industry experience preferred
NFPA 70e “Qualified Person” preferred, skilled with knowledge related to the construction and operation of the electrical equipment and installation and has received safety training on the hazards involved
Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills to work with others under all situations
Ability to work, analyze, troubleshoot and prioritize problems independently
Strong knowledge of dispatching methods, techniques, and practices
Effective written and verbal English communication skills
Proficiency and knowledgeable in office practices, procedures and equipment
Strong organizational skills with ability to prioritize and coordinate
P6 scheduling experience preferred.
