Requirements

Experienced with the GDS/GOV.UK style guide and service design standard
Mapping user journeys, processes and visualising design problems
Collaborating within a multidisciplinary team by sharing design work, and participating in research
Advocating for user-centred design and being an active part of the Design community within Methods and across government to share ideas, best practices and proactively help and support each other
Take responsibility for your own learning and development and seek opportunities to improve your knowledge and experience
UX project delivery support and guidance
Coaching and mentoring of graduates or those in training programs
Upskilling team members and those directly on the same project
Support training and development plans with Head of UXD, and other senior UXDs
Support Communities of practice, running and/or organising these as required
Supporting the continued development of the UXD team culture
Supporting and developing career progression opportunities
Organising and/or running team retros, design crits and other meetings
Support permanent staff hiring when required
Demonstrable passion for user experience design, with the following skills or proven experience in:
Talking about design and ideas in a way that other people understand
Understanding how the internet works and the technology constraints that may need to be considered in design
Using your extensive knowledge of visual and interaction design to create usable, accessible and responsive user interfaces
Running workshops, participating in discussions and assisting in the facilitation of the design of the service through collaboration with other professions
Understanding user needs, participating in research activities and interpreting user research to inform design
Sketching, concept creation and designing prototypes at different levels of fidelity
Working in an agile environment
Coding interactive prototypes using HTML, CSS and JavaScript
Designing for users with access needs
