Review designs for high quality, support engineers through challenging problem solving, and drive standards across the department.
Lead and manage the execution of team and department initiatives to support the continuous improvement of our tools and processes.
Apply current, standard engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria to complete engineering tasks, supporting other civil, structural, and electrical design workflows as necessary.
Develop comprehensive plans, specifications, and observation reports that are accurate and in accordance with sound utility-scale solar engineering practices.
Recommend alterations to development criteria and design features to improve quality and project outcomes.
Plan and accomplish project goals by leveraging experience and judgment.
Review and check design computations performed by the internal civil design team to ensure accuracy and compliance.
Prepare detailed reports and correspondence concerning the direction and progress of assigned projects.
Review plans and specifications for constructability, safety, and risk management considerations.
Maintain a value engineering mindset throughout the development, design, and construction phases.
Collaborate closely with business and engineering staff across multiple markets and technical disciplines.
Work closely with clients to understand their technical needs and identify the best feasible solutions.
Support marketing, sales, and business development activities within the assigned market.
Demonstrate a high degree of creativity, out-of-the-box thinking, and design ownership.
Requirements
B.S. in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited program or equivalent is required.
Civil Professional Engineer (PE) registration required, NCEES Council Record is preferred.
Minimum of 8-10+ years of civil engineering experience is required, with at least 5+ years of experience in design and development of utility scale solar, preferred.
Proficient at large scale solar grading design and earthwork calculations is required.
Experience performing detailed design of solar facilities with complex topographic, environmental, and non-participating infrastructure constraints is highly desired.
Stormwater management and permitting experience is highly desired.
Experience developing Spill Prevention Control and Countermeasures Plans (SPCC) and Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPP) preferred.
Demonstrated proficiency and working knowledge of AutoCAD and Civil 3D is preferred.
Proven experience in Microsoft Software Applications (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook).
