Manage a portfolio of designated publications, available both online and in print;
Collaborate and follow-up with authors to ensure timely delivery of manuscript according to our publishing schedule;
Review manuscripts to make sure they adhere to our author guidelines and provide feedback to authors;
Identify and develop new English-language legal content assets required for various product lines, including LexisNexis Canada’s print, eBooks, and our online research service, Lexis Advance Quicklaw™;
Recruit new authors and proceed to author replacement for publications within your portfolio;
Assess financial viability of new content proposals to determine whether they should be pursued;
Draft and negotiate publishing contracts;
Identify, organize and develop content improvements;
Build and maintain good public relations with the legal community, including practitioners, academics, members of the judiciary, librarians, market research contacts, and other external customers;
Work with Marketing and Sales departments to build “go-to-market” strategies;
Act as a resource person for authors and our different departments for publications within your portfolio.
Requirements
A Canadian law degree, or a law degree from another jurisdiction with a Certificate of Qualification from Canada’s National Committee on Accreditation
At least 1 year’s practice/articling or legal publishing experience
Excellent organizational skills and keen attention to detail
Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines for print, online and newsletter releases
Strong relationship-building skills and ability to work collaboratively as part of cross-departmental project teams
Excellent communication (oral and written) and negotiation skills
Experience operating with AI as a standard part of workflows, including demonstrated hands-on experience using LLMs and AI-enabled tools daily to support content and analysis; iterating prompts to improve output quality and consistency
Knowledge of Adobe Acrobat and Microsoft Office suite
